Julie Dunn

Comprehensive Pilates Teacher

About Julie

Julie qualified as a fully comprehensive Pilates teacher in 2006 through the Pilates Foundation UK, one of the most highly respected Pilates teacher trainer institutions in England.  She also has a movement background with a Diploma in Contemporary Dance from the Performing Arts School (now Unitec).  Julie started Pilates classes in London in 2002 after experiencing neck, shoulder and upper back pain working at her desk job, she fell in love with Pilates and was so inspired by her Pilates teacher that she commenced teacher training and became qualified to teach matwork and Pilates on the apparatus.  Her studio has a reformer, trapeze table, stability chair and many pieces of small equipment to enhance the exercises.

Julie always encourages quality and precision of movement, mindfulness and breath.  Her classes include a mix of classical and contemporary Pilates repertoire on the mat and with the equipment, with somatic influences from a variety of other movement practices.  Julie is passionate about using Pilates and movement to educate others to help overcome their musculoskeletal issues.  She has worked alongside osteopaths and physios in a clinical Pilates setting, as well as taught at various health clubs and Pilates studios in Auckland, London, and Surrey.

Julie is continuously on the lookout for an inspirational workshop to continue to enhance her teaching, and self-practices every day playing and exploring with Pilates, Yoga and Feldenkrais.

In 2020 Julie completed further teacher training at Bodylight, incorporating Pilates, Yoga and Qi-gong, further enhancing Julie’s holistic teaching to promote a whole mind-body experience.
